Godzilla:Reset chapter 1 (Revamp)

Hello my name is Mark, if you’ve stumbled upon this document then you’re a fan of the Nes Godzilla Creepypasta right? As an avid fan of Godzilla and internet horror stories Nes Godzilla was probably one of the most well crafted works of fiction I’ve ever experienced, in my opinion at least. I have a blog circling around the Story itself and from there I have a following of people that are just as involved in exploring the ideas behind the masterpiece as I am. But recently I’ve questioned the term fiction when studying this phenomenal piece of work, recently I had obtained the contact of Zachary from the very same guy who bought the actual haunted cartridge off of him. He discovered my blog and sent me a message telling me so. I had so many questions for the guy, because from what I remember he was playing the game and documenting it like Zachary. But he mysteriously dropped of the internet after his 6th entry. Before talking with Zachary I wanted to hear his experience, considering that this work of fiction may actually be real- I assumed maybe he was just a really talented artist who got bored of the work and never told anyone of his absence? But when I asked what was beyond the 6th chapter he never replied to me, I guessed he was busy so I didn’t bombard him. But little did I know that was the first warning sign of what I was getting myself into.

But at the time so many revelations were hitting me at once, I had no idea how to control myself. I was vastly excited in discovering more about Zachary and the fate of the cartridge then I was fearful of the great power the cartridge had, and what I knew it could do. I was reckless, and later on it would cost me greatly. But since you’re still reading you really want to know what I experienced, so there’s no going back from here. In no time at all I found Zachary’s social media address. For the sake of his privacy I’m not telling what website Zachary uses, from the looks of his page it was pretty barren, if I weren’t mistaken it had the shell of a bot account. When I messaged him I immediately opened up with the Creepypasta, and uproariously applauded his work. Socially that was a mistake on my part and still cringe up when I look back at the lengthy wall I sent him.. But surprisingly he replied to me not long after my introduction.

To make this simple, and somewhat unprofessional I’m going to describe our conversating in script format. I’ll just be including the points of interest made by Zachary.

Zachary: I’m flattered that you’ve dedicated so much of your time into reading my posts, but you should know everything I put out there was real. Also I might ask how did you find me?

Me: The previous owner of the game, he approached me on my blog and gave me your contact.

Zachary: I’m going to have a talk with him, but your persistence is something to be admired.

Me: So your experience is real?

Zachary: When I was still active I was conflicted with people denying my case being real. But if you haven’t already noticed, yes it is.

Me: Where’s the cartridge?

Zachary: That asshole sent it back to me. When I saw that thing looking back at me from my mailbox I didn’t hesitate to destroy it. But every attempt I made, the game came back. I swear I’m actually going insane, I just want it out of my life. I’d talk to a therapist or something but would they believe I’m being harassed by a cursed nintendo game?!

From there on I begged Zachary for the game, I remember at the end of his story he gave out a warning to anyone wants to get their hands on the game. But from the way he wrote I knew he was teetering off the edge of sanity. With every reply I made I had the slightest sinking feeling what I was doing was wrong by wanting the game in my hands. But my bullheaded pursuit of knowledge got the best of me. Within days I had the game, it was beat to hell, scratches cracks and burn marks covered it’s plastic surface- the sticker depicting Godzilla was barely recognizable to anyone who never saw the game’s exterior. But the interior was clean as a whistle. My TV was fairly new so I needed an adapter to hook up my old NES, but because it was newer it was much easier to take screenshots of the gameplay.

When I opened the game the only option was Reset, no password or load game to be seen. Funny considering in the previous run of this game one of the options were missing, but at this point it seems that the game was only fixated on starting anew with every soul awaiting damnation. I selected reset, and strangely i started off on Earth with the normal music, board and everything. Which was such step back given how strange and out of place the second run of the game was. I blew through the levels and fought Moguera and Gezora with no problem. When I progressed to mars I scrupulously looked over the board to see anything out of place. I looked over the boss monsters and I did see something new. In place of Gezora there was Matango, being the nerd I was instantly overcome with surprise! And anger. Matango was already in the game as a miniboss, and the fact that the obscure monster boss was replaced with an even more obscure monster made me boil. I had seriously doubts for the future of my experience, but that one change was evidence something was up with the game.

At that point I realized that I wasn’t even taking screencaps. I felt so dumb in the midst of my agitation I nearly punched my TV. But it was Ok, because as I progressed through one of the Dogora levels I encountered something else different. An Actual Dogora appeared in the level to fight me.

I was playing Godzilla at the time and I scoffed at how small it was compared to the Dogora in the original movie. But none the less it was nice to see another freakishly well made sprite in this “haunted game.” The Dogora functioned like the flying spaghetti fuckers prevalent in this level that were basically invincible to your melee attacks unless you used the heat beam. It did have a laser attack but I wasn’t able to capture it, right here you can see me about to wreck Dogora’s shit. It would’ve been annoying if more appeared because during the fight some of the stage enemies still fluttered and gracefully bombarded into Godzilla.

First monster up was Varan. I was already so far ahead as Godzilla I completely forgot about Mothra. Unlike Zachary I actually had fun playing as her when I used to play this game from online emulators. When I entered Varan’s arena he looked and fought differently. Sadly he wasn’t my missile spewing centaur. Instead he was accurately colored, and he glided around too like in his movie appearances. Seeing there wasn’t anything too weird I only took one screencap

of the bugger flying around. It would’ve been fun of The original NES Godzilla utilized more material from the movies Toho included in the game. So this game was just above the margin of tolerability for me to play and not get bored out of my mind. Overall he was fun to fight. He’d ground himself only when he took enough damage. It seemed the more I pummeled Varan the weaker he got and the slower his attacks became. It was oddly satisfying to beat him into the ground, the fight only took two rounds.

I was about to head over to moguera pumped up on adrenaline, but then I remembered Matango. I decided I’d fight with Mothra. Since he was the substitute for Gezora I figured he’d be easy considering how quickly I used to smash Gezora with Mothra in previous plays of the game. But Matango was a challenge in itself. He was slow and attacked with a punch and a kick while shooting small projectiles in a quick succession. But that obviously wasn’t the challenge.
.When when he lost a bar of health he’d screech and summon some matango spawn. Which was incredibly annoying given Low level Mothra had trouble killing matango spawn with her eye tomatos alone. BigDaddyTango would sit there and blast Mothra with his spores knowing I’d be busy fighting his kids. But when I killed them off he was almost completely helpless to my poison powder. With Matango out of the way Moguera was the only one left.

I remember from the actual game there was a chance the last monster on the board would flee if you didn’t kill him quick enough. Moguera being one of them.. I entered with Godzilla and I started writhing in my seat to see that it was Heisei Moguera instead of showa Moguera. I was excited to engage but also terrified, being a fan of the Atari fighting games too I knew how many ridiculous attacks Moguera had. But I also remembered he had to manually regenerate energy instead of passively regaining it like every other monster. Moguera’s would charge with his drills, shoot eye beams and missiles. I know I’m level four in the one screencap I took, so I’m certain anyone who read the original story has heard the line “I only took one screencap because I had to focus.” I think we should admit as a species we’re just bad at taking screencaps while playing videogames.

With a few more rounds with some help from Mothra Moguera took his beating like a man and didn’t flee. rewarding my monsters with experience. I decided from there I’d trudge over to the base icon, but when Mothra touched it both of my monsters were transported to the next world. My views on the seemingly lackluster legendary game had a turn for the better when I saw the preview for the next world.

Godzilla:Reset-Chapter 1

If you're reading this, you've probably read or atleast heard of the NES godzilla creepypasta.
The NGC was the best creepypasta i've ever heard until them, but as any ''normal'' person,i never tough that Zach's story was real.that was, until i experienced it myself.
Some months after i read both the creepypasta and the sequel,to my surprise,i got to contact zach.We had a talk about some things, but i'l copy here the part that really matters.
Me:Your creepypasta's good,i've really liked it.I wonder where you got all those ideias from.
Z:I just writed what happened to me.I don't like remenbering it,those times still make me feel...something until today.
Me:So,you're saying it's real?
Z:It wasn't my intention,but believe me,it's real.
Me:Where is the cartridge them?
Z:Someone bought it off me.They gave me it back later,i want to get rid of it as soon as possible.I've tried shooting it on the water on a trash can but it keeps coming back. It's as if it needed a player.
Me:How about i buy it off you?
Z;Take it,i don't want this thing on my house
After that,Zach sold it on Ebay and i was the first one to buy it.The delivery was faster than expected. So,as usual,i went there to play it as soon as possible.I still didn't believe the game was haunted, but welp, getting a Godzilla:NES official cartridge for a cheap price was sure something.
I opened the game and everything seemed normal, the title screen and story oppened, bringing me some good memories and nostalgia.
As i went to make a new game,i noticed ''Password'' was missing. It also happened on the creepypasta, but i tough it was just coincidence, probably a glitch.
I went to earth, and everything was normal as possible.I passed throught the stages, defeated gezora as mothra and M.O.G.U.E.R.A as Godzilla and passed on.Anyways, that was easier than expected.
Well, continuing, here's when things really begin.I went to mars, and everything seemed the same. That's it,until i looked at the bosses.M.O.G.U.E.R.A initially looked normal,so did varan, but when i looked at Gezora,he wasn't there.Instead, there was a very obscure kaiju that wasn't from a godzilla movie:Matango.I was....Surprised.First of all,the game was different.Could Zach's happening be...Real?Well,i left off my mind for a second but them tough:It could just be a hack, afterall.
As i usually do when i reach mars,i try defeating moguera first with godzilla, gezora with mothra and after defeating M.O.G.U.E.R.A as Big G,Going to defeat varan, since he was harder originally. As i went as Godzilla through the map,i passed through a dogora hyperspace level. When i went there, something surprised me.Aswell as the normal Dogora, a strange new enemy appeared. I didn't know what it was, until I remembered it was the Dogora from the actual film! It acted like a small mini-boss, flying around the screen, occassionaly coming towards me to use its electricity attack. It was not hard or easy,so I punched and used the Atomic Beam to strike it down.

I personally tough it was a way more interesting and challenging miniboss than the original ingame minibosses, that where a giant ship that was a bit amusing and a matango hive that was really boring to fight.
If this really was a hack, whoever did it was doing a good job, since the addition of dogora and matango where nice touches and dogora was a decently interesting miniboss. But a part of me slower tough that Zach's story was real, but i still simply tough it was a hack.
As i went to fight M.O.G.U.E.R.A,Something that was a common reason to get angry at this game happened. As always, the (Supposedly) stronger kaiju got on my way.Welp,i guess i'l have to fight varan. When i went to fight him,his coloration was different. He was now a brownish tone.Maybe the creator did it like this so he was more accurate ot the movie varan, since his coloring as saw on Destroy all monsters was brown.
At first, the battle seemed to be the same, until varan did something that i really enjoyed:He jumped on the air and started gliding around!
While gliding,Varan attacked by using his tail to attack from above and sometimes swooping tough to attack it's claws. While gliding,he became a bit tricky to hit,but i realized that whenever he took too much damage,he would go back to the ground, making it easier to defeat him.The best way too attack him was recharging the atomic breath and wasting it all whenever he went to fly,and them punching and tail sliding him while he was on the ground.
I eventually defeated varan and reached level 4,even tough it was a bit tricky to do so due to the new ability of varan.I really liked what the creator did to varan,The original varan didn't have any of varan's feature abilities or anything. It was just a big bipedal lizard.
Instead of instantly going to fight M.O.G.U.E.R.A as Godzilla,i went as mothra and went to fight the matango, since if matango was the substitute for gezora, the weakest kaiju ingame,he should be weak too.
When i went to fight matango,as i expected,he was really weak. His only attacks where a punch that couldn't reach mothra, and a row of 3...spores?That where fast but did a VERY low damage. The fight was going normal, but them matango started emitting weird screech that would summon many matango spawns, that made me get stuck while Big'matango man punched meDespite that,i found out that i could simply use toxic scales to kill matangos and damage the boss at the same time,so with that strategy i easily defeated him.
.With both Matango and Varan defeated,it was time to fight M.O.G.U.E.R.A.As i entered the fight, what i got was surprising.
Instead of regular M.O.G.U.E.R.A that was ingame, there was Heisei M.O.G.U.E.R.A instead. The sprite was great, way better than the old one.As i started the fight,i noticed how moguera's HP was way higher. Not only that, but he had new attacks. He walked back and forth, ocasionally charging at me with his drill, and could also shoot the heat beams it originally did,but way less commonly and shoot a row of three,low-damaging,tracking missiles that where hard to avoid. After i got it under half HP,He would start using the heat beams way more commonly and now,the missile row would now be 5.The fight was honestly kinda hard, but i managed to defeat him,the best strategy was to destroy the tracking missiles, shoot atomic breath while he was charging at me and them attack him with all that i got.
As i defeated all kaiju,i went to the base level.Something weird happened:Both my kaiju got teletransported to the next world as soon as they reached the base level icon on the map.Don't know if that's good or bad.
But the weirdest thing, was that it wasn't Jupiter.Instead,it was ''Naturalis''
EDIT:This chapter 1 is now unofficial,if you're looking for the official one,see ''Chapter 1#Revamp''.Due to complications and mainly the reasoning that chapter 1 had too much problems, the discord user Dargon helped me revamp chapter 1.You can still read this, but remenber that it's unnoficial and that the chapter 1 Revamp is significantly better.
